LAW IN PRACTICE (NLS)
This course will equip students with the knowledge of the ethics of the legal profession as well as their professional responsibilities in the course of their practice. Students will also know the relevant statutes and bodies which regulate the legal profession, including the judiciary. Adequate tutorial will be provided on how to set up, equip and manage law offices including the staff. Effort will be made towards acquainting the students with elementary accounting procedures relating to the keeping and management of the statutory (obligatory) accounts.
Additionally, students will gather requisite ability to plan, prepare and conduct an effective interview, and to provide the client with appropriate counselling and advice following the interview. Students will also explore other methods of resolving disputes without recourse to Litigation and the advantages associated with the processes.
This course is designed to be flexible and responsive to the student needs. Hence students are encouraged to go through the course at their own pace. Additionally, this course is organised into topics with related course materials (i.e. short interactive videos, course handouts, case law, statutes, articles, case studies e.t.c).
This course is also robustly supported by requisite support activities including but not limited to multiple choice and scenario based questions, real-time communal interaction via our in-course chartrooms and related performance assessment analytics towards ensuring optimum user engagement/experience.
